| In all fairness, we could not even post the atheist ten commandments in public capacity. Sorry. |
Wow, that was what was happening. I thought it was more like you cannot use tax payer dollars to favor one religion over another and/or promote one religion over another at public institutions which includes...high schools. I really don't see that by teaching the high schoolers what is right and what is wrong, that teaching them about the law of the land-church/state separation-is government censorship. I thought it was doing what you are supposed to do, doing what everyone else is doing (and together at that)..that is why there are rules to begin with. Well, I guess it doesn't apply to Texas.
So American Jesus won this round, but court precedents overwhelmingly side with Team Secular. Similar cases in 2000 and 2009 sided with Team Secular (1) . I imagine that the good peeps at Freedom From Religion Foundation will pursue this...and win.

To them we may seem like idiots that are complaining about nothing of significance, but to us we are fighting for what is right and for what is fair...for everyone. that is what secular society is all about. I guess we'll just have to waste more time and money and effort fighting the same battles over and over again until Team Jesus accepts...this is what fair looks like.
* This and many similar looking battles are going on concurrently. There is (was) that controversy over the 9/11 memorial cross, the cross in that dessert (on public land), the posting of the ten commandments in public buildings, prayer before official city/county business...and everytime the constitution wins. Everytime.

* The always great Religion News Service article.
(1) Banned prayers over loud speakers at foot ball games and a similar case where "innocent" peeps wanted to use bible passages on signs at football games.
* A common response is always, well why don't we invite all religions to do the prayer before city council meetings. Which is teh stupid because the goal is less religion not more religion. Anyways...the only overbearing people trying to inject their religion into public life is Team Jesus. Whatevahhhhh..,.,,
