Since taking over the route, the Atlanta-based carrier has been using older 767s that lacked many of the accoutrementthat international passengers expect, especially on long-haul flights.Delta spokesperson AnthonyBlack told me the airline is in the process of upgrading its entireinternational fleet, and Seattle travelers will be among the beneficiaries.“All of our internationalaircraft are going to be upgraded to full-flat seats in the front of theaircraft,” Black said, noting that the Seattle-Paris route will be upgraded tothe BusinessElite seats beginning Oct. 28.The airline has also providedmore space for those of us who usually ride in the back of the aircraft bygoing from a two-class international product to offering three classes.“Last year, we added EconomyComfort™ seats, which added additional space between seats,” Black said. According to Delta’s web site, EconomyComfort™ seats add about 50% more recline and 4” to the pitch, or the distancebetween seats. The result is pitch of between 34 and 36 inches, according toBlack.Economy Comfort™ is an upgradefrom standard economy. The main cabins have alreadybeen upgraded, Black said, using slim-line seats that provide “more room thanstandard international economy.”Additional service between U.S.cities and Paris Delta will be expanding thenumber of U.S.-Paris flights it operates starting in the summer of 2013.
