THAILAND: Outrigger opens new luxury property on Phi Phi Island

OutriggerHotels and Resorts will officially open the Outrigger Phi Phi Island Resort andSpa, a stunning 156-key 70-acre property formerly known as the Phi Phi IslandVillage Beach Resort and Spa, on Nov. 3.

 Locatedon Phi Phi island in the Malacca Strait of the Andaman Sea about 30 miles eastof Phuket, the property is the latest offering by Outrigger Hotels and Resorts,the 65-year old Hawaii-based company that continues to expand throughoutAsia-Pacific from its regional headquarters in Phuket.
Outriggertook over the sales and marketing of the property in Oct. 2011 and has beenmaking extensive improvements since that time, “Implementing Outriggerinternational standards across facilities, food and beverage and human resourceservices," according to Darren Edmonstone, Managing Director Asia-Pacificfor Outrigger.

Deluxe Garden Bungalow

Enhancementsinclude the addition of 44 new Deluxe Garden Bungalows. Food and beveragevenues have been enhanced, and the gym has been improved.
Thenew 571 square foot (53 square meter) Deluxe Garden Bungalows are the highlightof the changes. Located in clusters, they provide the atmosphere of atraditional Thai village. Inside, the interiors are contemporary with Thaitouches. Each bungalow features a walk-in clostet, a flat screen television,and iPod/iPhone docking station, Outrigger said in a statement announcing the grand opening.
Anew executive chef with extensive luxury hotel experience has also been hiredto implement a completely refreshed food and beverage offering. He will bringacclaimed culinary expertise in Thai, French, Italian and Japanese cuisine tothe OutriggerPhi Phi Island Resort and Spa. His new creations will be available in theresort very soon, according to the company.
Theunique location in a quiet peninsula of northeast Phi Phi allows guests to stepfrom the resort right on to a nearly half-mile (800-metre) white sand beach andenjoy the translucent waters of the Malacca Strait. Guests can also snorkel,scuba dive, take private boat or fishing excursions, and enjoy a full spafacility.
