I'm what's called first generation American. My parents came here in the 50's from the Philippines and, first my sister was born, then me, then my awesome brother (my sister is awesome also. In fact, I'm the least awesome of my siblings, and fuckin' "ayeeee" man...I'm pretty awesome. anyhoo...).
I absolutely love being an American. I'am patriotic and proud of that. Patriotism is one of the many many thingies that the religious right has hijacked. It's so not true that patriotism only belongs to the right, after all, liberal, skeptic, atheist, hippies living in Nor Cal, that are pro gun (I'm in the minority here), pro the weeds, pro LGBT, pro the choice to have an abortion, PPH what fucking evahhhhh, can be patriotic also. We're patriotic too. And even more than that...we use our freedoms and we cherish them. Thank non existent Gawd I do not live in Kuwait.
Kuwaiti blogger, Hamad Al-Naqi, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for, guess...insulting the Prophet Muhammad. What did he do...he tweeted some shit. Look man, myself and the entire atheist blogosphere would be put in jail for doing what we do everyday. "Insult" is a very vague term and I'm totally sure that "insult", in many instances, can also mean honest, factual and even constructive criticism, or to just plain question.
I don't know what he actually tweeted, but fuck-n-aye man...this is bull of the shit.
