Whether one will admit it or not...there's a freekin' war going on right now. I'm not talking in the Middle East (ugh, was' up Syria. Really. Really), I'm talking right here and now in the states. The Christian Right will deny American Exceptionalism and dominionism even exist while at the same time, on their own, combat secularism and relativism. There is the battle in the science classroom (crea-tards, err, I.D..) and there is the lesser know battle of the history classroom. I haven't written about David Barton and the particular dangers that he brings...so, guess what. Not chicken butt, this time.


It's one thing when your opponent calls you out, but when your own team calls you out, then that is some shit. The new book called "Getting Jefferson Right" is exactly that. The authors are on Team Christian and they are fighting the war AGAINST secularism themselves, but they still, you know, fact check-n-shit and are honest in their scholarly endeavors. David Barton...not so much (read at all).

For those who do not know, David Barton is a pseudohistorian with no real credentials and yet he sells a butt-load of *history* books to Christian homeschoolers and worse than that, he has that metaphorical ear of politicians. Some of the lies that he is successfully spreading are, the founding forefathers absolutely did intend to establish American as a Christian nation and Tommy Jefferson didn't say "wall" "church" "state" "separation." And people are buying it up like (insert something that is bought at a tremendous rate).

There is a quote about the Continental Congress that I've been holding in my pocket for a long time and I'm gonna bust out with it one day while debating and...I'm gonna kill it.

The authors breakdown their takedowns of Barton in a range from, totally false to just partially false. Heck man, Barton had the nerve to claim that Thomas Jefferson did not, that is DID NOT, make his own bible by literally cutting out all the supernatural passages from the bible, thus only leaving, well, very little. We see something similar within the ranks of Team Atheist. I don't wanna say who, but there is one biblical scholar that gets totally poo poo'd for her research. That is the beauty of intellectual honesty. I'm not going to back you up if you are wrong, nor should I.

Lastly, the best book I've read that totally kills Barton's super fake Christian history is Liars For Jesus. This is a MUST read for Team Atheist members. And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Cris Rodda a...believer. That intellectual honesty, yo.
